The Brasserie at The Carlton is the perfect setting to enjoy a meal, freshly prepared in our kitchen, using some of the best local produce around. We are open seven days and week, both to hotel and non-resident guests.
We serve an informal dinner menu each evening from 6pm, and a lunch offer Wednesday through to Sunday from 12:30pm. At other times we have a light lounge menu available.
We love to find new suppliers, whether they’re Devon families who’ve been growing, rearing or selling produce for generations or new, artisan makers of craft food and drink products – of which there are many in the county.
We are lucky to have quality West Country meats from our Muddiford butcher, and Exmoor beef from Chris Lerwill’s Exmoor farm. Choice game is delivered daily from MC Kelly, well known for their regional cuts. Our greengrocers offer locally picked crops, many from the Great Field in Braunton, as well as access to the local market in nearby Bristol.
Introduced in summer 2022, we now serve a choice of lunch menus five days a week. See below for our Sunday roast. Wednesday to Saturday, we have created a fixed price two or three-course offer, which gives you a great dining experience from just £16 per person. Our full Brasserie menu is also available.
Our classic Sunday lunch is a weekly Carlton highlight, leaving you ready for a countryside walk, or armchair snooze, and the well-stocked bar is always available for a chilled-out drink or to sample something from our carefully curated wine list.
Our Sunday Lunch menu always includes a quality roast (usually West Country sirloin and one other) plus fresh fish, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. As always, our full Brasserie menu is also available.
Open to Non-Residents
We are open to locals and visitors, with prior reservation. We serve breakfast, Sunday Lunch, light bites, afternoon tea or dinner in our Brasserie to both residents and non-residents.
Breakfast served daily from 7.30am (8am at weekends).
Lunch served from 12:30pm (not Mon or Tues).
Dinner served from 6pm, daily.

North Devon’s Larder
Naturally, fish and seafood are key ingredients in our larder. You are guaranteed to enjoy some of the best fresh fish from day boats landed in our own harbour. Add to that, mussels that are picked at low tide in Westward Ho! then cleaned in Instow. All in all a great smorgasbord of local and seasonal ingredients, that are truly sustainable.
