Together the network covers 5% of the earth surface and is home to 250 million people.<\/p>\n<p>The North Devon UNESCO Biosphere is an important meeting place of rich natural and cultural heritage in a stunning, diverse landscape. From the red deer of Dartmoor, along our meandering rivers, past historic coastal communities, to the diversity of our marine environment stretching beyond Lundy Island.<\/p>\n<p>The North Devon UNESCO Biosphere provides an open forum for bringing people together to inspire a positive future and aims to connect people to their natural surroundings; to empower them to unlock their potential and using their local and scientific knowledge, to model solutions for sustainable living. Through positive action, it creates practical solutions to realise a low carbon society and address the climate\/nature emergency.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What is the Biosphere Business Partner scheme?<\/p>\n<p>The Biosphere Business Partner Scheme provides the opportunity for businesses to share that they are proud to be part of the world class area, by being part of a sustainable business network that looks after the very assets that attract 80% of the visitors, as well as each other.<\/p>\n<p>Each signed up business chooses at least 5 commitments to work towards and are then placed into a network of businesses to share knowledge, experience, and develop ideas for the area.<\/p>\n<p>Our commitment:<\/p>\n<p>The Carlton has committed to installing bat boxes on the east facing annex wall, and also planting a small grass and wildflower meadow to the rear, under our exiting apple tree. His influences were Picasso, Diebenkorn, Appel, De Stael, Giorgione, Bellini, Gauguin, Pollock, Huston, later referring to Elizabethan, Egyptian and Aztec culture, and costume stylistically. Sci Fi, space travel, and the Lost city of Atlantis thematically. Also symbolism and Religious Iconography played their part. He used a variety of traditional media, house emulsion pain, enamel paint, metal powders, eggshell, rice, cigarette ends, teabags, polystyrene tile, scrim mesh, and computer generated collage.\r\n\r\n\u00a0\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-279525\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ilfracombecarlton.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Glen-Berning-Art-300x289.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"289\" \/>\r\n\r\n<strong>Paul Swailes Art<\/strong>\r\n\r\nPaul creates contemporary seascape paintings inspired by our changing sea and skies. The force of the sea pounding surf, the motion of a landscape, the way objects in nature are in tune to one another. How one motion affects the next is a continuing source of fascination. Glen spends much time walking on Exmoor and the surrounding beaches collecting stone, driftwood, metal and objects to inspire him and give him a starting point in the early stages of his work.\r\n\r\nGlen layers colours, plays with space, and contrast the solid with ephemeral the fixed with fluid to replicate the forces of nature at work. In his paintings, time is suspended, a fine line between order and chaos. The surface is calm, but the tension is ever present. Everything pulsates with life, on the verge of movement and change, colour is integral to his work, to create vibrant canvases.\r\n\r\nGlen adheres to modern traditions in paining so colour for him us a vehicle of expression, influenced by artists such as Barque Patrick Heron, Jackson Pollock, Beacon and Howard Hodgkin he alike. With a little open mindedness and imagination, abstract art can be understood.
