“I have two large hairy dogs that were made very welcome. I usually feel self conscious about doggy smells and shedding that I may not notice, even if I try to clean up after them. The staff here welcomed both me and the dogs. They got their own bed in the room, and bowls. There\u2019s a separate place in the restaurant to have breakfast if you have pets and at the bar. It\u2019s close to town and has onsite parking too. There\u2019s some refurbishment going on but that didn\u2019t affect my stay. It was a good base from which to explore north Devon.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Warm welcome for dogs & their humans!<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

We are just back from a fabulous 3 night stay at the Carlton. From the moment you walk in you know you are going to enjoy the place, with a very warm welcome at check in with an explanation of all the hotel facilities and a treat for each of the dogs – all the staff are clearly signed up to the dog friendly message. We had a “Queen” room on the second floor which gave us all plenty of room, a very comfortable bed, tea\/coffee making facilities, TV and a safe. The food at the hotel was first rate – we only had the one dinner but all 3 courses were excellent and there was plenty of choice at breakfast too. It’s just a 5 minutes stroll down to the sea front and a further 15 minutes or so to the harbour, home to Damien Hirst’s controversial sculpture “Verity”. Although Ilfracombe itself may have seen better days, there are lots of great coastal walks in both directions.We were very pleased with our choice of hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting the area.<\/span><\/p>\n
