Our beautiful seaside town and the surrounding area offers fresh air, tranquility and an abundance of activities to suit every mood. For the adventurous there are many outdoor activities to be enjoyed, including sailing and sea fishing trips from the local harbour and scuba diving for local wrecks around Lundy Island, 10 miles off the North Devon coast.

There are many local attractions within easy reach, farm parks, gardens. museums, steam railways, haunted and historic houses and National Trust property. Visit the Valley of Rocks at Lynton, Clovelly, a picture postcard village and maybe stop for a Devon cream tea or locally made famous Hockings ice cream. No holiday destination offers the diversity of North Devon.

'Watersmeet' a National Trust property can be found some 2 miles up the East Lyn River valley, by taking a picturesque woodland walk from Lynmouth. .Refreshments are served all day during the holiday season.

If you are partial to a game of golf, then North Devon is a must. There are many courses along the coast including Ilfracombe's full 18 hole course just beyond Hele Bay. There are two championship courses at Saunton and Westward Ho!

Close by are the popular award winning beaches such as Woolacombe and Croyde where children can play to their hearts content building sandcastles and you can stroll miles along golden sands - both are only a short drive away and on the local bus route.

Malmsmead, in the heart of Exmoor, the setting for R.D. Blackmores classic story 'Lorna Doone'. A short walk along the country lane is Oare Church, also featured in the book. You may like to take a walk, going upstream alongside Badgworthy Water, as far as 'Cloud Farm' and perhaps enjoy a traditional Devon Cream Tea in their pleasant tea rooms. The scenery in this area is typical of Exmoor with its heather covered open moorland and its contrasting deep wooded combes. It is truly a walkers paradise, whatever the season.
