Gallox Bridge, Dunster (Somerset)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Head over Gallox Bridge,\u00a0Dunster<\/a>\u00a0and you will soon find yourself at the foot of a wooded hill, with various options ahead. You\u2019ll see a large trail map board to show you the walking options from here.\u00a0Bear left for open grasses of Dunster Deer Park, or choose from a number of other pathways up Gallox Hill and into the Dunster Crown Estate. For forestry walks, Nutcombe Bottom is well worth a visit. Take the road from Dunster inland towards Wheddon Cross, taking the first lane to the left signed to Luxborough. You can park at\u00a0Nutcombe Botton picnic spot<\/a>\u00a0and head into the woodlands.\u00a0 Here there are a huge array of tracks through pine forests. Look out for the tallest tree in the British Isles from here.<\/p>\n

Climb up to Dunkery Beacon, marking the highest point on Exmoor (and the highest point in the South of England, outside of Dartmoor). Park at Dunkery Gate car park on the lane heading towards Porlock from Wheddon Cross. An easy climb of just over half a mile will take you straight to the beacon, or explore the moors in any direction. Here\u2019s an 8 mile circular walk from\u00a0Wheddon Cross to Dunkery Beacon<\/a>\u00a0and back.<\/p>\n

Steep cliffs cradle a dry valley, their north side falling off into the sea of the Bristol channel. Scramble up towards the high spots, or follow the coastal walkway path. Don\u2019t forget to look out for a few feral goats!<\/p>\n
